Port of Halifax welcomes first call from China Shipping

CHINA Shipping Container Lines' vessel, the CSCL New York sailed into Halifax' South End Container Terminal on its inaugural visit to the east coast Canadian port recently.

The company has deployed ten 4,200 TEU vessels on its new round-the-world AMAX service that contains a sole Canadian stopover in Halifax.

"We're ecstatic to see her in the Port of Halifax," said Karen Oldfield, president and CEO, Halifax Port Authority.

"This is a great opportunity for us and an indication that Halifax is becoming known as a smart gateway for Asian trade to enter North America. We're looking forward to growing our relationship with China Shipping," said Ms Oldfield.
